But that scale is both their greatest strength and most significant weakness — because when you're a marketplace this vast, quality control becomes nearly impossible.

The shopping experience itself is genuinely impressive. Wayfair's site and app are well-designed with robust filtering by style, material, price, and dimensions. The 3D room planner and AR "View in Room" features are among the best in the industry, helping you visualize pieces before buying. Customer reviews are abundant and generally helpful, though we recommend filtering for verified purchases and paying close attention to photo reviews.

Price is where Wayfair excels. Their marketplace model drives competition between suppliers, and the frequent sales events offer real discounts — not the inflated MSRP games you see at some competitors. During Way Day, we've seen legitimate 40-60% markdowns on quality items. The Wayfair Professional program also offers additional discounts for business buyers and design professionals.

However, quality consistency is Wayfair's Achilles heel.
