Our Full Review

Article launched in 2013 with a simple pitch: modern furniture, honest quality, no retail markup. A decade later, they've refined that formula into one of the most compelling DTC furniture brands on the market. Their curated catalog of roughly 500 products won't overwhelm you like Wayfair's endless scroll, and the design sensibility is consistently strong — scandinavian-influenced modernism with warm, livable undertones.

The Sven sofa is their flagship, and for good reason. Available in top-grain leather and premium fabric options, it offers the kind of deep, comfortable seating that you'd expect from a $3,000+ sofa — at roughly half that price. After 14 months of daily use, our leather Sven has developed a gorgeous patina with zero structural issues. The cushions maintain their shape well, and the solid wood base shows no signs of stress.

Article's broader catalog maintains this quality standard. The Timber dining table uses solid mango wood with visible grain character. The Burrard chair features genuine walnut armrests. Even their outdoor line (Latta, Ora) uses weather-grade teak and powder-coated aluminum. You're getting real materials, not the veneer-over-MDF that dominates at similar price points.

The DTC model is both Article's strength and limitation. By skipping showrooms, they save roughly 30-40% on overhead — savings passed directly to buyers. But it means you can't sit on a sofa or feel a fabric before committing. Article tries to compensate with detailed product pages, material samples (available for some items), and a 30-day return policy. The $49 return pickup fee, however, creates just enough friction to make impulse purchases risky.

Delivery speed is a genuine differentiator. While West Elm and Pottery Barn regularly quote 8-12 week lead times, most Article products ship within 1-2 weeks from their warehouses. White-glove delivery is available ($99) and recommended for larger items. Our delivery experiences were consistently professional — on time, careful, and clean.

Bottom line: Article delivers the best combination of design, quality, and speed in the mid-range furniture market. If you can live without trying before buying (or are willing to risk the return fee), this is where your furniture budget goes furthest.
